INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tsp Ghee/ Oil
- ½ tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1⁄2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp Hing powder
- Salt (as required).
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 40 gm moong dal (yellow lentils)
- 2 cups of water.
- chopped fresh cilantro for topping.
HOW TO MAKE:
Wash and rinse the mung dal.
Heat the Ghee/ Oil in a saucepan and add the turmeric, Grated Ginger, Cumin Powder and Hing Powder.
Add the mung dal and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer. Add salt at this point. Stir from time to time and skim off any foam. Add additional water, if needed. Simmer until the mung dal are quite soft
Puree at this point, if desired.
Add the lemon or lime juice and ladle into bowls. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
