INGREDIENTS:
- ½ Cup jowar
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 Onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp boiled green peas
- 1 green chillies (slit or chopped)
- Pinch of asafoetida (heeng)
- 1 inch ginger , finely chopped
- Coriander leaves (for garnish)
- 2-3 curry leaves
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp ghee
HOW TO MAKE:
Rinse and soak jowar overnight (or for around 8 hours). Later, drain the water from it and cook it in a pressure cooker along with water and salt. After 3 whistles, turn off the heat and allow the pressure to get released on its own.
In a kadhai, heat ghee and add mustard seeds. Once the seeds crackle, add urad dal, chopped green chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida, and ginger. Stir-fry lightly.
Add the chopped onion and continue to saute till it turns translucent.
Add green peas and other veggies of your choice such as carrot and capsicum (should be finely chopped). Add salt to taste, mix well and cover with a lid for a few minutes.
Later, add the cooked jowar and saute for around 3 minutes.
Squeeze a little lemon juice on top, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
